About Us:
What?
MFNW is going into its ninth year as one of Portland's largest and most successful festivals attended. In 2001, with North by Northwest now living as a distant memory, Willamette Week, a longtime co-producer of NXNW, saw it fit to initiate a festival that Portland could call its own. Insert: Musicfest Northwest. WW teamed up with music professionals from throughout the local and regional music scene to create MFNW in 2001. Since then the festival continues to gain popularity and create a buzz among the music lovers in Portland and across the nation.
Who?
Initially, the festival set out to showcase mainly the talent of the Pacific Northwest. In 2006 the direction shifted a bit to include a larger presence of national acts. This proved to be a good move as festival attendance doubled from the previous year. MFNW 2009 will once again feature a great mix of acts, including local bands playing alongside nationally and internationally renowned bands. As a festival go-er you will get to see a little bit of everything.
How?
MFNW is not your typical festival. Instead of being outside, you are hopping from venue to venue in all quadrants of the city. We do it this way to celebrate many of the unique music venues that Portland has to offer while enhancing the experience of the festival go-er through the change of scenery. MFNW offers general admission wristbands, VIP wristbands, and tickets for the individual shows.
General Admission Wristband:
-Guarantees no cover.
-Some venues restrict access to minors.
-Many shows fill up. Show up early to ensure entry.
(Admission subject to legal capacity.)
VIP Wristband:
-Immediate access to all shows.* No lines!
-You must be 21 or older to purchase VIP wristbands.
Both wristbands are non-transferable. Individual tickets can be purchased at the door for all venues, or in advance for shows at the Crystal Ballroom and Roseland Theater (while supplies last). After you have your entry figured out it's just about showing up and having fun!
